Werkudara from Petra.

This postcard was put under my door directly by Petra. It was a farewell, because we couldn't see each other for the last time before she is leaving Indonesia to go back to Slovenia. I found it very sweet of her to do this. I surely hope to see her again!

Brief explanation of the card, it shows the Werkudara in Wayang performance. Wayang is a Javanese word for particular kinds of theatre. When the term is used to refer to kinds of puppet theatre, sometimes the puppet itself is referred to as wayang. In the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Bhima, also called Vrikodara (in Javanese: Werkudara), is the second of the Pandawa brothers. He is one of the central characters and is symbolic of great strength. You might want to read Wikipedia for more info about it XD

U.K., The Cascade.

Another postcard from Tony in England (: It shows The Cascade and Cascade House in Chatsworth, Derbyshire. The Cascade is a set of stone steps over which water flows from a set of fountains at the top. It was built in 1696 and rebuilt on a grander scale in 1701. In 1703 a grand baroque Temple or Cascade House was added at the top. It has 24 cut steps, each slightly different and with a variety of textures so that each gives a different sound when water runs over and down them. Got it on July 13th too.

Australia, The Breakaways.

Second postcard from Tasha with heaps of Australian stamp. Eeeeep! :D My favourite stamp is of course the one with platypus. The postcard itself shows The Breakaways in South Australia. The reserve, with its colourful geological features was named "The Breakaways" because from a distance, the plateaus and massive rocks look like they have been broken off the mainland. Got in also on July 13th.
